Should a Child Sleep on a Firm Or Soft Mattress?

!±8± Should a Child Sleep on a Firm Or Soft Mattress?

Mattresses are indispensable. But while some of us feels alright sleeping on any sleeping surface, this is not the case for children. They body and brain is still developing during this time and a comfortable mattress is needed.

But what mattress should you really choose? We often think that our young ones need a very soft mattress that can make them feel as if they are sleeping on a cloud. I myself have slept on a very soft mattress when I was a kid and enjoyed jumping on it when the mood strikes me.

Just recently, the interest of the public for firmer mattresses sparked. This is a mattress publicized for its ability to reduce body aches and pains. Do children really need this ortho-like kind of mattress?

Sure they do. They may have smaller frames but children also need support to the body. But since their bodies are significantly lighter and smaller, a semi-firm mattress or a mattress which is a cross between a firm and a soft mattress is a better choice.

Memory foams for kids are available. These are firm beds that can help reduce pressure points. It would be good to provide your child with the bodily support that they need. This is to give them a comfortable and well-supported sleep. If you do decide to choose this mattress technology, one with a density lower than 5 pounds is better. It is not too firm and not too soft.

Of course there is also the technology of latex mattresses. Most of them have 4 pounds of density. Unlike memory foams, they are bouncier. You can say that this mattress is the epitome of body pain-relieving mattresses because it has the inherent ability to support your upper body and provide comfort to your lower body.

The right balance is what children need. You might not even force them to have a nap since their mattress is so comfortable they will want to stay on it always. However, these mattresses are slightly more expensive than your average mattress.

Since they are loaded with more features, they are naturally more expensive. It is worth buying though as they have longer life compared to innerspring mattresses. If you decide to choose a mattress worth investing in, these are the good ones.

If you want to provide the best sleep experience to your kids all the time, why not invest in a semi-firm mattress? You will want to provide them something that can harness their development.
